The Kishangarh Painting is one of the most refined styles of Rajasthani miniature art, which flourished in the 18th century under the patronage of Raja Savant Singh in the princely state of Kishangarh, Rajasthan.

Guided by the master artist Nihâl Chand, this style is best known for its graceful portrayal of Radha and Krishna, blending devotion, romance, and poetic beauty. The most iconic painting of this school is “Bani Thani”, often called the Mona Lisa of India.

Kishangarh paintings are characterized by elongated faces, arched eyebrows, half-closed lotus-shaped eyes, and delicate detailing. The backgrounds feature serene landscapes, lakes, and palaces, painted in soft, lyrical colors using natural pigments and fine brushes.

This art form beautifully captures the spiritual essence and aesthetic elegance of Indian miniature tradition, making it a timeless symbol of Rajasthan’s royal artistry.
