Bhil art, rooted in the tribal community of Bhils—primarily from Rajasthan and surrounding states—is a vibrant folk tradition reflecting their agricultural lifestyle and deep spiritual beliefs.

Originating from a warrior and hunter tribe, Bhil paintings are characterized by large, surreal figures filled with intricate dot patterns made using natural dyes derived from turmeric, berries, soot, and limestone. Traditionally painted on the mud walls of their homes using twigs as brushes, these artworks depict ancestors, deities, animals, and tribal legends, serving as prayers and offerings during festivals.

Passed down through generations, this art form uses stippling techniques and geometric motifs unique to each artist. Over time, Bhil artists have adapted their practice to canvas and acrylics, incorporating contemporary themes while preserving the cultural narratives that celebrate their heritage.
