Originating from the Warli tribe of Maharashtra, Warli art dates back to around 2500–3000 BCE created on the walls of village homes to mark weddings and festivals.

The art uses simple geometric shapes—circles, triangles, and lines—to depict scenes of daily life, dance rituals like the Tarpa, and a deep connection to nature and community.

Traditionally, a mix of rice paste and natural materials like cow dung, mud, and geru (brick red) was used to create the artwork, applied using bamboo sticks or brushes.

Today, Warli art has evolved onto paper, canvas, and textiles, preserving its rustic charm while gaining global appreciation. Participants will work with natural and modern materials, and experience this minimalist, yet deeply symbolic, art form rooted in tribal heritage.
